How often should I use Hair Oil?

The frequency of using hair oil really depends on your hair type, so it's essential to establish a routine that suits you best.

For those with dry or damaged hair, incorporating hair oil into your daily morning routine can be beneficial, applying a good amount to damp hair after each wash.

On the other hand, if your hair gets oily quickly, using hair oil just once a week should be sufficient to see results and prevent excess oiliness.

How to Apply Hair Oil

Applying our Hair Oil is quite straight-forward, simply follow the steps below!

  1. Begin by washing your hair as you normally would. After that, gently towel dry it, leaving it slightly damp. This helps to deeply hydrate your hair and allows the oils to absorb better into the hair shaft.
  2. Take a small amount of oil on your fingertips and start massaging it into your hair, beginning at the ends and working your way up to the mid-lengths. Be careful not to use too much; otherwise, your hair may end up looking greasy or heavy. A few drops should be sufficient, so spread it evenly throughout your hair for optimal results. The amount of oil you need can vary based on your hair type and condition, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. Start with a few drops and adjust as needed based on your hair's response.
  3. Let your hair air dry or use a blow dryer on a low heat setting. Hair oil can also be applied to dry hair to add a lovely shine, tame frizz, and enhance the appearance of damaged hair, especially after following the steps above.

  2. Take some oil and apply it directly to your scalp, massaging it in with your fingertips in a circular motion. You can use the bottle's nozzle or your fingers for this step.
  3. Use any remaining oil on your palms to coat your hair.
  4. Wrap your hair in a towel or put on a shower cap, and let the oil sit overnight.
  5. In the morning, wash your hair with shampoo twice, followed by conditioner. Your hair will feel revitalized and well-hydrated.

Did you know you can also use our Hair Oils as a Hot Hair Oils Treatment?

What is a hot hair oil treatment?

A hot hair oil treatment involves heating oil to a warm temperature and applying it to your damp hair. When your hair is damp, it expands, allowing the heated oil to penetrate the hair strands more effectively. This process makes the hot hair oil much more moisturizing and beneficial, helping to seal the cuticle layer for a smoother, softer, and shinier appearance.

Moreover, the advantages of using hot hair oil extend beyond just the hair itself. Massaging hot oil into the scalp can provide numerous benefits, especially for those experiencing hair loss, as it can stimulate hair follicles and promote hair growth. Additionally, it helps to remove dead skin flakes, cleansing and exfoliating the scalp.

If your hair is dry, damaged, brittle, color-treated, or prone to split ends, a nourishing hot oil treatment can be just what you need for hydration and protection.

Should I wash my hair before or after a hot oil treatment?

To maximize the benefits of your hot hair oil treatment, it's best to apply it to freshly washed hair. Hot oil is most effective on clean, damp hair, allowing it to deeply penetrate the hair cuticle. If your hair is dirty and your follicles are clogged with sweat, debris, or product buildup, the oil will simply sit on the surface.

Does hair have to be wet or dry to use hot hair oil?

The ideal time to apply your hot oil treatment is right after shampooing. For optimal results, always use hot oil on damp hair. Leave the treatment on for about 30 minutes, then shampoo and condition your hair again.

Will Using Hot Hair Oil Make Hair Grow?

Hot oil treatments can promote healthier hair by boosting blood circulation to the scalp, which may help reduce hair loss and breakage. The act of massaging the warm oil into the scalp enhances circulation in the underlying nerves, stimulating inactive hair follicles and potentially supporting hair growth. If you're experiencing thinning hair, consider trying a hot oil treatment to encourage growth.

Are Hot Oil Treatments appropriate for all hair types?

These treatments are particularly advantageous for hair that is weak, dry, chemically treated, or frizzy. Such hair types often require extra moisture and protection from damage. Since hot oil treatments focus on replenishing moisture, they are especially beneficial for those whose hair is lacking in hydration.

How to Apply Hot Hair Oil

  1. Begin by pouring 3 to 4 tablespoons of your chosen oil into a bowl that can withstand heat. If your hair is longer, feel free to add more oil. Next, fill a large pot with water and heat it on high until it reaches a boil. Create a double boiler by placing the bowl with oil over the boiling water. Stir the oil for about 3 to 5 minutes until it becomes warm but not boiling. It's best to avoid using the microwave, as it can heat the oil unevenly and break it down.
  2. Before applying, test the oil's temperature with your fingers to ensure it’s not too hot for your scalp. Once it's at a comfortable temperature, transfer the oil into an applicator bottle with a narrow tip for easy application to the scalp.
  3. Detangle your hair and divide it into several sections on both sides of your head. Clip all but one section up to begin the treatment. Once you finish with the first section, move on to the next.
  4. Using your fingertips, gently massage the warm oil into your roots, working through both sides of each section. Then, continue to massage it into the mid-lengths of your hair, moving down to the tips. Repeat this process until all your hair is coated with the hot oil.
  5. Cover your hair with a shower cap to ensure it’s fully enclosed, allowing the oil to penetrate for about 30 minutes.
  6. After the time is up, wash your hair with shampoo twice, followed by a good conditioner. Your hair will feel revitalized and moisturized.
  7. For best results, repeat this treatment twice a month.

What's in Our Hair Oils?

Our Hair Oils are made from a combination of some (or all) of the following natural oils. Each oil provides particular benefits to your hair and scalp.

Jojoba Seed Oil: Enhances blood circulation in the scalp, providing nourishment and fortifying hair follicles, which in turn encourages hair growth and increases thickness. It is abundant in various vitamins and minerals essential for hair health, including vitamin C, B vitamins, vitamin E, copper, and zinc. Jojoba oil effectively hydrates dry, damaged, and brittle hair, rendering it softer and more manageable.

Argan Oil: Provides moisture, imparts shine, safeguards hair from damage, and enhances elasticity. It is particularly beneficial for maintaining scalp hydration. Rich in Vitamin E, argan oil serves as a powerful antioxidant and an excellent moisturizer. Its high nutrient content hydrates, restores, and nourishes the hair.

Castor Oil: Contains a wealth of fatty acids that promote circulation and alleviate inflammation in the scalp, thereby supporting healthier hair growth. Additionally, castor oil possesses strong antimicrobial and antifungal properties and is deeply moisturizing, all of which contribute to a healthy scalp environment.

Avocado Oil: Packed with minerals such as potassium and magnesium, as well as vitamins like biotin, this oil aids in moisture retention, enhances shine and elasticity, and helps prevent breakage and split ends. It also alleviates flaking and dryness of the scalp. Avocado oil is particularly beneficial for dry hair types or individuals with thick, curly, or natural hair due to its exceptional moisturizing properties.

Sweet Almond Oil: This lightweight oil absorbs rapidly and is composed of fatty acids, including oleic, linoleic, and palmitic, while being a rich source of vitamin E. Its lightweight nature allows for quick absorption, smoothing frizz and flyaway strands.

Vitamin E: Aids in the repair of damaged hair through cellular nourishment, reducing breakage, and enhancing elasticity and shine. The antioxidant properties of vitamin E may help mitigate oxidative stress and the impact of free radicals, which can lead to the deterioration of hair follicle cells in the scalp.

Rosemary Oil: Promotes hair growth, addresses premature greying, and alleviates dandruff. Additionally, it aids in soothing a dry, itchy scalp. This oil possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial characteristics. Furthermore, rosemary oil enhances circulation, potentially preventing hair follicles from being deprived of blood supply, which could result in their deterioration and subsequent hair loss.
